Thread: Damn It!!!!

Ive bin having this one damn problem since ive owned my NX. The rear passenger caliper always giving me hell.When bought the car it was siezed up so i said ok il change em both make sence right?? Then my car kept leakin brake fluid wondering why is this happening so i saw that it was leaking from the same caliper,I had a warantee on the part took it back changed it again then guess what this one leaks too its anoying the hell out ah me nowJUN told me my parking brake cable was seized up so he disconected it. I had to run a red light in the rain the other night cause the car had no rear brake power the car was sliding,The fluid is spoiling my rims paint even eating the paint under the wheel wells.HEEELLLPPPP!!!!

might seem silly, is the bleeder ALL the way closed?

I had to replace my rear calipers on my sentra SE-R before and got 2 in a row that leaked from my parts store. They said that the reason for this is that due to the rarity of our cars, a lot of times the calipers that parts stores have are ones that have been sitting around on the shelf sometimes for years and years. A lot of times the seal where the parking brake cable goes in is dry rotted and brittle. They finally got me a 3rd caliper that did not leak.

Also if you said the parking brake was seized up, it might have also been holding the brake applied and allowing the rotor and caliper to heat up real bad that might contribute to the problem.

Yes it is. When i looked at it the fluid was where the the hook connects to cable

Calipers do not leak. Used copper washers do. Are you reusing the copper washers or using the new washers provided? Disconnecting the parking brake does not make you lose stopping power. Cheap pads do. Dude, I have eaten, ****ted these NX's. About 10 years worth.
1)Where are you getting these calipers from? You want my advice? Pay the extra and go to Autozone and get their rebuilds. They are far superior than Arch or A1Cardone sold by placed like GB500 or South Shore.
2)Check to see if your brake line is leaking. Thats a no brainer. I actually have a R/S rear brake line in my toolbox if you want it.
3)The right side parking brake is notorious for seizing up. I changed mine a year or so ago. It is not an easy job if you are doing it for the first time. Here is the diagram:

Calipers do leak.

Where the parking brake lever goes into the caliper there is a seal. That seal will leak if it is old and brittle.

Rebuilds? He is getting some real cheap rebuilds then. Rob, there is more to this story that is not being told.
