A.M.E.C. Ice Racing in upstate NY

Race your SE-R on the frozen lakes of upstate New York with the Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club. All you need are a fire extinguisher, helmet, winter tires, and numbers on your car to participate. Two Street Legal classes, SL uses studless tires [Bridgestone Blizzaks] and the other SLS class for street studs [Nokian Hakkapelliitta 7 spec tires.]

Our first event will be next weekend at on Tupper Lake.

Check out A.M.E.C. Ice Racing

This looks really cool. Plus the Adirondacks are just awesome in general.

Had a look at the schedule, thinking about coming out for Caroga Lake and/or Lake George. Is there any special clearance needed for photography?

It's best to let one of the race officials know what you'd like to do and they will allow you access. One of those orange vests would be helpful too, so they know it's you. The tracks are huge and from a distance it's hard to tell who belongs there and who just wandered up to the course. Lake George sometimes has their own security guys on snowmobiles that will have spectators move away from the outsides of corners for their own safety.

Good deal, I will bring my orange vest and a bunch of cameras.

Cool. Remember, the schedule is tentative at best. Ice conditions change and with it does our location. Always check A.M.E.C. Ice Racing before you head out to the lake. Hope to see you at one of the events this season. Stop by and say hello in the pits.

Here are a couple pics from yesterday's A.M.E.C. ice road races in Wells, NY.

The tires on the drive wheels are studded Nokian Hakapelliittaa 7's with two older Hakka 2's on the rear. Finished first in the 2WD class.
