Thread: E85 setup on V1 SA ECU

I have to start off by saying how much I love this ECU, it works great and is easy to tune. I have not been around the forums a lot but I have put a lot of miles on the car with your ECU and it always starts and drives which I cannot say enough about. In my never ending pursuit of modifying my car, I have come to the E85 bridge and plan to cross it this summer. I purchased the Innovate Ethanol gauge which has a 0-5v input which will be going into the break-out box. I have to get myself familiarized with the inputs again, I have not messed with anything since I re-tuned at the begging of last summer, and the car has been sitting all winter. I am going to top feel injectors and will be using ID800s from the Nissan 440cc that I am running now.

My questions:

Do I need the V2 break out box or SA?
I assume I need to tune on 93 and E85, what fuel maps do they need to be in?
What software wise needs to be enabled to "blend" the fuel maps using the ethanol sensor input?
Anything else I should know?

I have not updated, or even looked at the software since I last tuned, it has been that reliable and spot on. I will update the PC side software and ECU once I get the car back home.

If you are using the ADC input for a 0-5 volt flex input, then you don't need the V2 adc board.

You simply tune the vehicle with pump gas first. Then enable the flex fuel input and use the flex fuel (fuel trim) table and flex ignition tables to make the changes to the tune depending on ethanol content.

I can send you a good starting point when you are ready so it should be close to simply plug n play.

You simply just enable the flex fuel input and the blend maps will be active.

I should do a video on how to set this up properly with our current firmware!

Okay so to go flex fuel what do i need or where should i start.

Can I have the flex fuel sensor set up and everything without running e85 yet.

I can understand having the "Set 1 primary fuel" table tuned for petrol/gas and using the flex fuel settings to adjust the map for E85 - all good

But how do we implement E85 cranking and post start enrichment?

That's a good question Martin. Hopefully JKTUNING or someone will have an answer for you.

We're looking at adding another table, indexed by flex-fuel sensor voltage (E%), with values to be applied to the cranking and post-start injector pulse widths. Are there any other factors we should consider for this update?

Maybe tip-in enrichment?
Maybe warm-up enrichment?
Anything else fuel related that's not controlled by the main fuel table...

Definitely Cranking, Post Start and ECT Corrections indexed to E% would make fuel flex much more viable and reliable
