Old fart from SE-R mailing list
Hey folks, Jim Wright from the SE-R mailing list, if any of you go back that far. Located near Austin, Tx, owned a '91 SE-R for many many years, sold it to a friend, had another in the garage needing an engine, and after a decade I'm finally getting around to hopefully getting that one going again. Ultimate goal is building a track car, and I've got a decent list of parts already planned out for it.

Anyway, just saying 'hey', time to catch up on some threads here.

LOL, yeah, you've got that right. Slim pickings for upgrades it seems. I didn't have my hopes up though. The US didn't get much in the way of SR20 performance parts.

I may still be chasing down some brake upgrade parts though, but that will take longer.

Damn, I forgot how long the intro to that show was. LOL

Wilwood brakes are great, no question. But i'm needing to stick with more common, and cheaper parts. When I said track car, I actually meant racecar. LeMons, Chump, World Racing League, endurance racing. Parts are definitely going to break, can't afford to have spares of those just sitting.

Use NX brake upgrade for a cheap upgrade. Pads that fit are from a 1991-1994 Eclipse Turbo. Shave the ears down a tiny amount with a hand file to make them skinnier to fit the ears of the brake pad backing into the NX hardware, and it slides right in. The pad is almost a dimensional perfect match. Make sure the rotors are the thick 26mm thick ones.

LOL,yes, I know all about the front NX upgrade, did that to my original B13 about 20 years ago. I had heard that Hawk stopped making racing pads that fit though, but that may have been bad info?

I do plan to do the NX upgrade with this car, also looking at rear upgrade options, likely what most call the Maxima upgrade, as soon as I can go through all the threads and find a definitive parts list that lets me keep a 4x100 bolt pattern all the way around, and keep the e-brake, though that's not a deal breaker.

I also need to see what the current B13 options are for headers, and see what fits my plans best. Also looking at a VE swap, so I'm not looking to do much to the DE engine at this point.
