So the EGR delete could be the reason for that...

i hate to bring this back from the dead but something needs to be adressed. it does not matter which way the spark plug is pointed because no valves are open during ignition. have you guys forgoten how an engine works? and the first valves to open after ignition is the exhaust valve. remember timing is based of top dead center which is on the COMPRESION stroke if valves are open there is no compression.

So every guy that's ever proven this on a dyne is full of shit? You obviously have never tuned a turbo engine either. If you had, you'd know that regardless of stroke position - the spark CAN be blown out by boost. Explain that if the valves are closed. Suck squeeze bang blow. Spark indexing works.

Explain to me how regardless at any stroke position spark can be blown out if it only sparks at one point in the cycle? Its not the actual air blowing into the cylinder its the air in the cylinder on comprsion that blows out the spark. I've litterally tuned hundreds of engines and I know that a gain of 2 or 3 hp is never a deciding factor unless you can creat the exact engine temp air temp intake temp baro. unless its on an engine dyno you can't measure such a small number.

I just got a bluetooth obd 2 reader to work work the torque app. I will give this a shot and see what happens.

Have you ever tuned a high boost engine? If you have, and it doesn't seem like you have, you would know about the spark being blown out. I'm not gonna sit and argue with you when you haven't done the research. Boost blowing out a spark is a real thing. If it wasn't - I'd be able to gap my plugs at .045 instead of .027. Believe me, I've dealt with enough of it to know firsthand.

i agree that spark can be blown out but if you read what i said, its not from air coming from the intake port and valves. its from the piston pushing the air to the top of the cylinder.

Indexing gains are tiny, for that reason I've been wanting to consolidate this how to with the Sidegapping one.

Now with indexing, as long as your ground strap is not directly over the intake ports, your pretty much indexed. Thus just doing your best to keep the ground strap between 3-9 o'clock should do.

"Spark Blow-out" is a misnomer. Sparks are never "blown out" like a candle is or anything like that. It is a horrible name for the phenomenon. What most people refer to as "spark blow-out" is actually better described as "hindered spark" or "prevented spark" or something like that.

What happens is, the density of the air molecules between the spark plug electrode and the grounding strap gets so high, the coil voltage can not overcome the insulating resistance of the packed air and no spark occurs. The electrical energy ends up arcing inside the coil internally, or causing a plug wire to arc to ground, or possibly delaying the spark plug ignition until ATDC when cylinder density has decreased enough.
