GI: Custom MFactory Helical & Plate LSD's and Gears
Hello sr20-forum,

the purpose of this thread is to see if any of you would be interested in us producing custom product(s) for your application(s)?

OEM Sample: In order for us to proceed with production of a custom part, we would need a sample oem part from one of you so that we can take our measurements. One of you would also need to test the initial prototype before the final product goes into production, so you will need to decide among you

Minimum Requirements: (Able to pay a deposit within the next couple weeks)
Helical LSD - 5 confirmed buyers
Plate LSD - 15 confirmed buyers
Gears (Final Drives and Close Ratio) - 10 confirmed buyers

Lead Time: Development time is normally around 3-4 months, depending on how long it takes to test the initial prototype unit

Current Developments:
32V Helical LSD - http://www.sr20-forum.com/mfactory-competition-products/68865-pre-purchase-32v-sr16ve-helical-lsd.html
32A Helical LSD - http://www.sr20-forum.com/mfactory-competition-products/69178-pre-purchase-32a-helical-lsd.html

Pending Developments:
32V Plate Type LSD

We can make whatever is required, be it for the oem viscous or open diff. As mentioned above, all that we require is a minimum of 5 confirmed buyers

Any reason for wanting to do helical over clutch type? Reason I ask is, clutch type (like Nismo) are much better for racing, if one wheel rises the other keeps spinning unlike with Helical. Another reason why clutch over helical, we currently still have helical LSD options on the market, but no new clutch type (Nismo ones are discontinued) options available.

Please keep it simple. I dont care if it is clutch LSD or Helical LSD, as long as I can get a better LSD unit than what comes in the trans, and a price of $700 does not sound to bad either.

I am not interested in bickering back and forth over small things and we loose a good product.

The racers would probably be faster to put money up for a clutch type LSD, while he helical would have a potential bigger market. Either option would be an improvement really.

We can make either one (or both), however, the main reason for choosing the Helical in this thread is because:

1) It costs us a lot less to produce a Helical LSD due to its simplicity. A Plate type LSD has a lot more internals parts, which, although doesn't increase our "per unit" cost to the consumer (currently ~$900), it does increase our development cost significantly. We would be looking at around at least 15-20 confirmed buyers to produce a Plate type LSD

2) As unijabnx2000 stated, the Plate type LSD is mainly for the racers (auto-x, circuit, rally) and is not too suitable for the street due to its aggressiveness and noise. However, with the Helical LSD, this is suitable for everyone; Not as good as a Plate type LSD for a race car, but can still be used effectively, especially if you are new to racing. And although I'm not 100% certain on this, I'm guessing that the majority of the market is the street/weekend-warrior

Always nice to have new options. Next diff I'll be looking for will be going in the RS5F50a though... using maxima sized axles (apparently the altima RS5f50a used smaller splines where the axles meet the transaxle... learned that the hard way)

After you get 5 buyers will it be produced for regular purchase or always on a group buy?
