B13 SER Manual to Power Window Regulators
So I'm doing this write up for anyone interested. Thanks to Mark for the guidance on getting it done.
What you need besides the obvious tools to get the job done.
-Manual 2 door window regulator
-Power 4 door window regulator of same side
-Some cable from McMasterCarr 25ft is fine
-Copper Sleeves from Amazon
Ok first cut and remove the cables from both regulators. You will save the pulley from the power regulator (dont loose the little springs in the little plastic tip pieces) and the track and cable sleeves from the original manual regulator.
First crimp a copper sleeve on the end of the cable and slide it in to position in the pulley (start in the back it'll be easier in the end, ill tell you why then). After its in just follow the pulleys tracks around (IIRC twice) then feed it through the end tips going trough the spring inside of course.
Then through the cable sleeve then the one end of the track. Run it up the center of the track to the slider and once you get in the slide toss on another copper sleeve. This one is the one you wedge into that slider piece. Maybe sure to position the slider somewhere in the middle to help it be in position when you go to install it.
Finish running it back up the rest of the track out the other end, through the other cable sleeve, into the other pulley end tip (and spring inside). Feed the cable around the pulley (twice again) and slide on the 3rd and last copper sleeve.
Now heres the hard part. You have to pull the cable tight (you're fighting against the springs, you want to pull it so they compress as much as you can get them to). Those springs help keep the tension. This is where I said starting in the back first helps you in the end so that you are working to get the last copper sleeve in position in front and not in the back behind the cables that would be in your way.
Anyway pull the cable tight as you can and line it up where that copper sleeve it will wedge in position and crimp it down while keeping the tension. Pop it in that little slot, snip off the access cable. DONE!
Note about my pictures, i actually started in the front so i have a harder time with getting good tension trying to crimp the one in the back if the pictures are confusing you. Its not too hard of a job, enjoy having power windows (after you run all the wiring and switch....etc of course)
