I've bought a smog pump and i'm going to be hooking it up when i put my new engine in in a month or so.

No, you will be fine. It is to prevent an extremely unlikely oil fume fire/explosion in the event of an extremely unlikely backfire (explosion in the intake plenum). It will never happen. Don't worry about it. Plenty of us don't have them anymore, and no one has ever experienced any bad things because of missing one.

I've had plenty of backfires (tuning is fun!) and I've never had any problems. =]

Yeh i still havent fired up my det yet.. still trying to go over everything and make sure its right. still a lil confused of where a few hoses go that are around folating in my engine bay

Post up some pics "dontknow-ser" of the hoses / engine bay in question and im sure we can get them to the correct locations.

Thanks, inspired me to check my PCV valve on the VE. Shot to h3ll, looks like I was losing crank case vacuum at WOT. Explains the oil burning.

USDM replacement for VE PCV anyone? Probably '00-01 RR sr20de.

FYI: I'm requesting this thread be moved from the All Motor Section to the How To / All Motor section. Look for it there in the future.
