Thread: Dash/center console lights not turning on

As the thread title states, all of my dash/center console lights dont work. I've tried a different dimmer switch, fuses and all the easy crap. The stock radio harness got all cut up, but thats all soldered up and I still am light less. Is their a ground behind the dash that I'm missing. I haven't really had the time to dig into this until now so any insight into this would be much appreciated.

im having the same problem right now.......dont know whats going on, i was working on the headlight sthe other day. since then, ive had my front driverside light out (not the bulb, the wiring isnt working, but the pasenger side is. this is both in high beam and low beam) other than that, my dash lights and hvac dont come on. everything else is working the same. no fuses out. MAYBE a dimmer switch problem, i did switch out everything with some junkyard stuff.

Tony.. You probably soldered the wrong wires together when fixing the radio harness. Check your radio harness wires for the illumination light, always-on wire (for saving your settings) and your ignition/acc-on main power wire. One of those wires is probably wired incorrectly.
I would start by first testing the dimmer switch, and then I would cut each radio power wire (one by one) and testing if the dash lights return.



You have several problems.
First your headlights not working is probably caused by a bad Headlamp/Turning switch. Heres the test & fix. Post #18 is the real fix!

Your dash problems are probably a direct result of bad/burned-out junkyard parts. Try a known good dimmer switch from a friends car to isolate what is bad and then replace that part.

yep....got this figured out a few months ago and turned out to be the dimmer switch. After trying 3 Dif junkyard ones the fourth one turned out to be the charm. I dont no if its bad luck that i got 3 crap switches or if they are really that bad. But problem solved and i got everything cleaned up with the radio harness and it all works.

me too, i thought about it and realized i had used the junkyrd dimmer switch, i had been to lazy to install my electronics. now i just need to fix the headlight.
