Kenwood by far has the largest scale of options for the money. Eclipse headunits sound a little better, and have a few neat functions over Kenwood.
If you want cheap and decent get the Kenwood. One of the first and few to have active crossovers built-in, GREAT too to tune any audio setup. Do your research and you should find there list of attributes is very long.
Many don't like the look much though, which is weird to me as I find them better looking then most but I cannot argue with the masses.
