Is it okay to switch from sealed/ported?
Well, I've been using my P3 in a sealed enclosure since I've got it. For sealed specs from rockford, they say 1cuft is best. But a box within 25% is just fine. My box is 1.25cuft, and it has a sealed port. If I were to put the port back, could I damage the sub? Or am I O.K.?

dude if your box is a sealed box,, leave it alone.. your box is 1.25 total,, thats ok for a sealed app...sealed will allow a little room to play with,, but if you want ported you need NO LESS than 1.79 .(for the P3-12). a ported enclosure has to be more exact or the subwoofer will not operate correctly ... however if your smart with the volume control theres ways to cheat power... for example if you put that P3 in a 3.0 cu box with only 150watts that thing would drop some LOW bass and sound great but turn it up to much and make it sloppy it won't last long... but to make it sound correct and be able to take a pounding. you really need to go by the spec's to the T no matter what product you have.....

P3D412 and P3D212 SPEC'S are both the same

Rec. Sealed Enclosure 1.0 cu. ft. (28.88 liters)
Range: 0.75 cu. ft.- 1.25 cu. ft.
Range: (21.24 liters - 35.40 liters

Rec. Vented Enclosure 1.79 cu. ft. (50.69 liters)

Vented Tuning Frequency 40 Hz
Port: (1) 4" diam. x 10" long
Port: (1) 10.16 cm x 35.56 cm

You won't damage the driver, but there's also really no reason to run a ported enclosure with the P3. RF designs their drivers based on sealed/bandpass enclosures.

I wouldnt say that, just you have to up the dough for thier Power series in order to get top level performing equipment from them.Back in the day even thier cheaper stuff was solid.

The HE2's I bought five years ago still work flawlessly to this day in the B14,thats what got me to purchase the P3's.
