ahhh right, i see, so with full dog it should solve it then and si will finally get into the 10's with mo and a few others when they are ready...

225 wide! love it, makes the car look mean as fook!! what brakes are you running bud? i want some rota track R's in 16" but im not sure what size brakes will fit, im hoping the 308mm 4 pot hi-specs will work.

is there any other clutch that accomodate the same power as the twin discs without breaking the trans. does anyone know what kirk lee did to his trans. in jamaica to accomplish his low 10sec. numbers? how reliable is wpc treatment? i know before dog gears most of the tuners in japan were using wpc

with straight cut everything, braced case, welded reinforcement theres not alot more that we can do. Im adamant it would not have happened with the brace he was running in 2006. It might have cracked, but it wouldn't have exploded.

He got the box apart tonight, bad news, new input shaft, new 2nd main gear, new 3rd gears needed.

the 225's are about as big as i can get without messing with the arches. Pete has 235/15/60 on his but had to flare the arches with g60 extensions, i didn't want to do the same tbh so these are spot on.

i've got 310's under the 16's so wouldn't see it being a problem

we've been talking about carbon twin plates and some other things to dampen the initial shock, the giken is pretty harsh but at the end of the day the case is just weak.

Apparantly there were some mods done to the case or the way the case mounts on kirks car but information is scarce. I dont see WPC treatment helping, it treats the surface of metals as far as im aware, like shot peening, the case that broke had been cryo'd, they're just to poorly cast and weak, you can see how porous the material is in the pic

i've tried to ask about lee's gtir, the only info i got was the mounting points on the box got welded. does the same part of the case always fail ?

pretty much.

i imagine they have welded some sort of plate to that end of the box, you could see on si's where the mount has stopped it cracking further. A company in the uk has been doing weld on plates, the guy worked on the fwd n14 rally cars and they had the same problem.

My issue with relying on welding the case is if it cracks elsewhere, that work was a waste of time, if its a bolt on brace, aslong as it stops the case blowing apart which the one si used did, you can use it again, regardless of what happens to the case. We've already discovered that strengthening the end case will cause it to crack at the bell housing end.

I honestly dont see a better set up than the straight cut everything, welded internal ribs, cuffed shafts and bolt on brace i intend to use on my car.

if we can solve the issue, i will get on with the build of my better engine and stick a proper turbo on the car and have a really quick gtir

it seems that the initial shock from first gear is not being absorbed or distributed properly throughout the case. if the case and the bell housing was made from steel with a reinforced mounting position would this help or the energy from the shock would still be transferred to the main and input shafts?

he was grabbing second when it happened, car hooked, case broke, the case is just to weak on its own.

With straight cut everything the end case shouldn't get loaded up so much, with the brace fitted, it wont explode if it does

a steel case would undoubtly be much better than the ****e nissan supplied the car with

directly quoted by kirk lee - 10.725 on stock box.
