What Are Your Goals With Your Build???
Just wondering what your goals are with your cars? What I mean is what would make you happy and content?

This question is for the people on here who actually are building cars for themselves. Not to keep up with the Jones's or are into the car scene just because it the "Cool Thing" to do at the moment.

For me I am shooting for 400-425 whp on pump gas. I would be happy if the car went mid 11's in the 120 mph range. I also want the car to continue to look clean and simple with some quality made parts.

Most people already know my goals because some have already given me crap about them stating im saying im running this fast but havent done it yet, Thats not the case. Anyways here are my goals. I will list my current setup and my previous setup with best results.

My car is a 92 SE-R with no sunroof, no abs, no power steering, no A/C, Nothing behind the dash, no exhaust, no heatshields, no front or rear bumper supports, nothing in the bay that doesnt need to be there. which basicly leaves the engine, tranny, and harness.

My mods: 9.5:1 JDM highport
RWD tubular turbo manifold, the good one haha
S15 dual bb t28, very good condition
Calum basic ecu, 520cc injectors @ 4bar
JWT S4 cams
Nismo AFPR
Fidanza 8.8lb flywheel
ACT Extreem PP w/ 6 puck sprung disk
B14 trans low milage
GC coilovers on GR2's
2.5" intercooler piping w/28X9X3 fmic
Turbo XS RFL bov

My goals for the setup is to be at the 320whp range or better on 20psi of boost and make that power close to redline not at 6k then fall like a brick after like my old t25
My goals for the dragstrip is an 11.1 or better on the turbo alone at well over 120mph im thinking its going to come in at around 125mph in cool weather which is when im going to run it next.

Here is the big kicker. On top of the turbo im going to run a Zex wet kit 75 shot. Im really hoping to hit at least a high 10 at over 130mph. Im hoping with the spray to make 400whp at least.

I also am currently building a spare block with 8.5:1 CP pistons, stock rods, Cosworth HG and all new bearings and seals just to have as a semi built spare if anything were to happen to the motor going in. I should have the car back up and running by Sunday but still waiting on the 520cc injectors and wet kit. But it will be completely done before the convention. I hope to see most of you there. Now my car is still pretty much full interior, all seats in place and stock. other than the fact there is nothing in the center console other than a boost guage, you cant really tell anything from the outside appearance. Haha, thats the way i like it.

Call my goals high if you want, but on the T25 pushed to the limits i ran a best of 12.4@110mph which all the turbo would hold was 12psi after 5k, spike of 18 under that. Too much heat and the motor didnt like that without race gas. That last run i coasted to a 12.4@98 300ft before the end the motor lost cyl 3 and just let off. That run would have been at least a 12.1 maybe faster @113-115 being i was already crossing 110mph when it gave out. This was on an 89 deg night, pretty humid, just miserable arizona weather this time of year, haha, on a dry cold 70 deg or less night the difference is huge, i wouldnt have doubted on the t25 i could have hit an 11.9 at least. But there you go, that is my detailed list. haha

I posted my build on here last week but no one cared to respond to it, so here is the build and my goals. It's a 93' SE-R that I bought almost a year ago for my project. Zero rust and a fresh interior once I clean it up.

Parts:

BB DET from Andreas
Pro-tech Equal Length Manifold
Tial 40mm
SC61 .70 trim
S4's
P11 Tranny
JGY 6Puck
8.5lb Fidanza
MSD 72lbs
UR pulleys
Z32 Maf
E-Manage Ultimate
Calum RT
MSD Ignition/2 step
Walbro 255
Aeromotive FPR
3" Down Pipe
3" Side exit exhaust
Raxle Axles
Road magnets/Agx's
Wideband/EGT/etc...
Prothane mounts
Dual pusher fans
Nismo thermostat
Big AZZ FMIC
BFG Radials
Big brakes coming soon

I'm sure I'm missing stuff but you get the idea. I'm going for a conservative low to mid 400's whp. I have pretty realistic goals about my quarter mile times, I'm hoping for mid to low 12's. I don't wana sound stupid and say I'll hit 11's because it's not easy to do since these cars don't hook up with that much power but I hope I'll trap near 120. I'm not gonna lie, this car is being built to be a street monster and be almost unbeatable from a roll. Nobody around here cares too much about qt mile times because they don't mean **** on the highway.

Future plans:

After the car is running and tuned right I'll go to work on the body. I have a chance to buy Brad's (Naghebe) full Sunny kit at the end of the month if the other buyer doesn't come through. Some nice 16's and a few more suspension add on's and I'll be done and content, until I want to go faster...

Here's a quick pic of the car

You should check out the people that are running those times and what there setups are. I personally don't think you will see 11's at all, actually I think your qt mile time will stay around the same or get slower but the traps will go up to around 115-117. Even with the wet kit you will NEVER see 10's with that setup and I doubt your 9.5:1 will take it. Look at the few cars that have went 10's on here and what their setup is compared to yours. It's great to have goals man but be realistic...

Same here.

Shooting for 400whp on pump also, simple clean reliable power that I can daily drive when I want. Was up to mid 300s before and it was good.

Well here is the thing, with the T25 setup at the most i was making 270whp on the 18psi spike, probably close to 290wtq. After 6k the power was basicly null, it drops like a brick, Here is the difference with a T28 especially the dual bb t28 from an s15, it will easily hold 18-19psi all the way to the rev limiter without producing a lot of heat like the t25. The heat produced from a t25 overboosted has alot to do with the backpressure created because of the power being made. it cant flow the exhaust through it fast enough, which means lots of heat right back up through the valves. Especially with big cams, not good. The t28 produces very little heat even at high boost levels.

Look at people that have just upgraded from a t25 to t28 and upped the boost a couple psi, they gained between 8-10mph to their trap speeds. I have been running on slicks the last time out, they grip awesome. Here is the Thing the T28 wont fall off which means i dont have to shift so early, as far as the lower rpm band goes it wont make a whole lot more power than the t25, it will but not as much as after 6k, after that is where it shines, your talking by redline i will be making close to 80whp more at that rpm level compared to a t25, this is at 20psi, This is a big difference. Im not making crazy power so traction probably wont be as big of an issue as you guys are talking about.

My first time out on slicks my 3rd run i pulled a 1.72 60' still spinning the slicks slightly due to just doing a small burnout. Had i dont a good 2nd gear burnout and really heated them i could have easily done a 1.6 60ft After the launch i didnt loose traction once not even on my speed shifts not even lifting off the throttle in the 1st to 2nd gear shift, The slicks and track i run at are well prepped and grip is very good. So we will see, i have goals and i will do what it takes to reach them. The 9.5:1 motor will be fine even at those power levels.

Oh and lol at the only trapping 115-117mph, haha on a cold night i would have trapped 115 on my t25, lol It will be easily in the 120's and again i will hook just fine.

My car is a 2001 Sentra SE automajik!

My goal for the car is to keep it simple using Nissan parts. My car has:

SR16VE Head w/ SR20VE cams
E-manage
GTiR pistons
DET rods
VE oil pump
8cw crank
Calico main bearings
Nissan rod bearings
VE HG (I think Cometic, can't remember)
MSD 8969 (not hooked up)
GT28RS turbo at 10psi
Greddy Profec S set at 10 and 15psi
Deatchworks (sp?) 555cc injectors
AEM wideband
Exhaust cutout (manual, non-electric) in place of cat
Magnaflow 2 1/4" exhaust when cutout is closed
Greddy RS BOV

Upgrading with new parts:
B15 LSD 5 spd
JGY LSD
Stock clutch and pp (I haven't driven a manual in over 15 years :o and that was just practicing)
SSQ BOV
E-manage ultimate (want to get past that stock 6750 redline)
Q45 front brakes
Stainless steel lines all around
Hoosier R6 225/45/17 front tires

So, my other goals are to do the 5spd swap and practice driving. Numbers? I don't really have a goal there. Car with Auto tranny did consistent 99mph 1/4 mile passes. I'd be very excited to have it more reliable, 110mph for the 1/4, and ~ 300whp.

Also want to work on suspension...(want to start road racing next year, possibly Savannah being my first taste of it in March! )

NX - stupid simple and well put together reliable turbo, every other day driven street car... no real power goals in mind, but 320whp should be reachable. Something that nobody around the area gets totally... fun to drive and not have to worry about it. Not perfect in anyway, but abides to my OEM styley.

200sx - No goals at all... it just came to be! The bastard bolt on DE car!

240sx - Learn something new, try something that I don't think anyone has done yet... reliable, comfortable, daily driven. A car that my girlfriend actually likes... Torquey.
