Thread: How many grounds in the engine bay?

Dont forget to cleanup the negative battery grounding point on the drivers side,
and cleanup both grounding points on the Intake Mani (most of the sensors is grounded there).

I also use the DiElectric grease to protect grounds and inside some connectors. Its good stuff!
On the metal-to-metal connections, I use the battery protection spray (cheap @ Walmart) to avoid rusting..

I don't recall even seeing this alternator ground that you posted pics of. I'm going to go out and look in the engine bay in a second. Pretty sure it's still there since I didn't mess with the harness, and only messed with the motor.

Still need to pick up some new battery terminals. I'll probably get some wire for the negative terminal to chassis, to motor. The rest I'll do in 12ga. wire, should suffice.

The alternator ground is found to the left of the Coolant holder, the black plastic.

I stripped that bolt (it was pretty stuck). You can kinda see it to the left of the black plastic.




I would stick with 10 gauge at least. I went with 8 gauge, it was a pita to make the crimps and it was expensive haha. 10 Gauge is a pretty good size

Thanks for the map, Vadim. I've been having voltage drops at high RPM and "come backs" when I hit bumps recently, and I'm suspecting a bad ground, so this will come in handy when I'll be troubleshooting.

Mine did that for quite a while, the sending unit terminal had worn out until it just fell off. Just replaced it with one from rock auto. Works great

Werd. I'm almost 100% positive it's from the positive and ground on the battery. I can't get them any tighter, and they still have a bit of play. Apparently if the positive harness moves ever so slightly, I can't even crank the car

Gotta go to the parts store today and get better terminals.
