Question about hubs
Yesterday I was helping a buddy replace his pass. side wheel bearing on his 91' NX2000. I had just done mine on my 98' 200sx about a month ago and have a shop press. Well when we got the hub pressed out of the bearing we noticed the shaft of the hub was different diameters. The thing looked like it was manufactured like that. It was confusing me because my b14 hub didn't look like that nor my Jetta's. I even took it to AZ when we had to get another grease seal and the guy there couldn't figure it out. The smaller diameter is actually small enough that, when the hub is pressed into the bearing, it doesn't even touch any of inner race. I don't know if this is something weird they put on NXs or the old bearing somehow cut into the hub and created the machine look smaller diameter. If anyone has replaced their NX pass side wheel bearing and their hub didn't look like the crude drawing below let me know so I can tell my buddy he needs a new hub.

Does it look like my crude drawing or is the whole shaft the same diameter? How much would you charge to ship it? My buddy doesn't have alot of money so it may be out of the question right now.

Tha hub is worn out ... the bearing race has been spinning on the hub causing the wear , if he reuses it , it will wear the bearing again !!

I see that all the time when a bad wheel bearing is driven on for a long time ..
