Fans not coming on...
so yeah a few weeks ago i have realized that my fans aren't coming on unless i unplug the coolant temp sensor (the red on e....for the ECU).one thing though I haven't ever had a problem with over heating*knock on wood* but i have been getting a hesitation around 2500-3300 rpm.

if i leave the sensor connected i am able to turn the car on and walk away letting it warm up.when i unplug it and want to start it and walk away to let it warm up in the other hand, it eventually dies/stalls out

By the way this thread isn't made for the hesitation since i already have one all about it,but i figured i would throw that i am getting that issue in here in case it would have anything to do with the fans not coming on unless the sensor is unplugged

any help would be very great thanks in advanced

i Do get a ""Detonation "" code every time i have somebody plug the Lap top to get some info out of my ecu.what does detonation mean ?....is my motor goign to eventually going to like blow up into smithereens ?

would i simply have a bad fan relay? if so how would i go about testing mine out before i buy another one?

sensors and things swapped out already;
-both coolant temp sensors
-MAF
-dizzy
-cap
-rotor
-plugs(could bad plug wires cause anything relavent to any of my problems?)

check the relay by swapping with another relay w/the same color (you should find another in the relay box). Just dont use the fuel pump (for obvious reasons)...

Howto Test Relays..

But if the fans comes on when unplugging the temp sensor, your relays are probably fine. Your Temp sensor (two wire sensor beside the oil filter) is probably bad or has a bad connection...

Btw, Plugs dont cause this.

Detonation errors are coming from your knock sensor. Either the knock sensor is bad or the is reading an engine knock (which causes the ECU to goto Lump Mode - - drive like crap). I would put my money on a bad knock sensor... Just replace it..

Most people over tighten the knock sensor and crack it during the installation. Just wrist tighten when installing it.
Once the knock sensor cracked or dropped, its done..
Good Luck

I normally get my knock sensors from these guys on Ebay.
They are cheap with a 5 year warranty and have genuine OEM parts.

Rad Fan Workaround Trick..
Well, we are moving into the HOT & HUMID summer weeks...

Until you fix this problem, If you car does overheat (lets hope not), do the following:
1. Remove the AC fuse
2. Push-In the A/C button
3. Turn ON the Ventilation Fan (any position)

This will fake the ECU into thinking the A/C compressor is really running, when in fact it is NOT.
And Voila.... The fans will come on... You can control Radiator fans by the AC button
OR by turning the Vent fan switch Off & On ..

Ive used this trick several times when I was having Overheating problems...
Good Luck..

I would check the fusible links under the hood. Mine was overheating and I found that the fan's link was blown.

The often forgotten and overlooked Fusible Links...

Great point Mike ! ! This could be caused by a blown fusible link too...
