Headliner Fabric Alternatives ?
Well I'm going to replace my headliner on my 98' 200sx SE-R and I was
wondering what kind of fabric would you guys recommend to use instead
of actual headliner fabric? And when taking off the sunroof switch can I
pop it off from any side or is it like B13s and you have to pop it off from
the driver side? Thanks

When looking for material i just make sure it stretches, some fabric only stretches in one direction, this will work but is a little harder until you get use to it. Other wise there usually is plenty of fabrics that will work, you want something stretchy and just thicker than grill cloth. If it is too thin the glue might bleed through.

The previous owner of my car did the headliner in a black microsuede. Worked great except that the a-pillars have faded terribly over the years.

would just regular fleece be good like what people use to make blankets out of from the
fabric store ?

Can't get your hands on headliner material? It's the best material for the job if you ask me. Why are you avoiding it?

I got mine from JoAnn Fabrics, they only sold 1 color the grey that's labeld "automotive headliner", went there a couple weeks later for my moms 88 monte carlo ss and they had 5 colors to choose from.

Well because all the JoAnn Fabric stores around my house ran out. I guess I could
tell them to order it. But my questions that has never been answered yet is how do
you take off the sunroof switch off, do you just pop it off the driver side like a b13?
And once I have the headliner off, how do I take off the sunroof visor because that
needs to re-done too.

just did my sunroof section (i plan on finishing up the rest.... here are some quick pics)

used this glue

lay the sunroof over the fabric and cut away extra sections

Sprayed half of the section at a time and with my palm i lightly evenly with a circular motion made sure it was flat and then with a PBA card(only cars which was around at the time ) used to flatten it out even more

i carefully cut corners

finished product
