Thread: how to test coil and ignition control module?

i am looking to test my ignition system, i removed the coil and control module and i am looking to test them, but i dont have a fsm to refrence to, and i was wanted some concrete advice on how to test them.

my car is no longer starting im getting fuel air and no spark now. its one of 3 things, coil, control module, distributor, trying to weed some stuff out.

You need a dmm to test the coil. You have to test primary and secondary resistance. One is across the positive and negative terminals, the other is between the possitive and the coil wire. You can get the values out of a haynes manual or the fsm.
