Fuel Pump Time! What to get?
About to get my b13 back on the road after sitting for 7 years. I'm going to drain or replace the tank. For an extra margin of reliability I'm just going to replace the fuel pump too while I'm at it. (And all the tank hoses)

What do I get? OEM again? Walboro 91-94 NISSAN SENTRA WALBRO FUEL PUMP 255LPH
Something from Rock Auto? I'd rather keep it stock equivalent or even better overbuild the car.

A Walbro 255 is a great upgrade.

Just be very careful of fakes on E-Bay. Even though it will be more expensive, I recommend on going through Walbro them self.

If you didn't drain the tank, you're going to want to replace it. There is going to be a lot of crud that you just aren't going to be able to clean out, trust me, I tried. You may be able to get some local shop to boil the tank to clean it, but by that point you may as well just buy another from Rock Auto. Just make sure that you verify the exact model tank you need. I ended up getting one for a carbureted B13 by mistake first time rather than fuel injected.

Hoses may not be necessary, you can easily check those once you're in there though to see if they are deteriorating or not. It is cheap insurance though.

A walbro is great if you plan on boosting, just make sure your fuel pump wiring is up to the extra amps that it takes. There are new factory Nissan pumps out there but I haven't researched them, I think Unisa Jecs has used factory pumps. I have a fuel pump thread that shows the difference in gerotor and turbine pumps that might be some info for you. How to replace fuel pump: P11 1999 to 2002 / Pump info and specs

From what I can recall, there are two versions of the Walbro. The high pressure one has been reported cause rich AFR conditions, as the stock FPR can't properly regulate it. Old wives tale, or not? I do not know for sure, but you should look into it before making your purchase.

If the fuel pressure is too high, the injectors are going to spray more fuel for a given duration, so there's a good chance you will run rich as a result unless you can reprogram the ECU to adjust for the new flow numbers. And you will still have problems with the regulator because it won't be able to return extra fuel fast enough, and you could also burn out the pump since it will be fighting against itself, I would expect.

Only consider the higher pressure pump if you're positive your setup has already maxed out a lesser pump and you've sufficiently modified your setup for the new pressure.

Ok, So the Walbro looks like a bit of overkill. And I can see how it may lead to rich conditions.
I remember a while back b13's had a fuel pump recall so I just want to get something reliable as my car is not very modified.
