OK, I was able to see the photo originally, but now that site is apparently being blocked here at work, so it isn't displaying. Sorry about that. The other two pics are still displaying fine.

Like wayyyyy beyond normal. Literally smoke comes off the terminal, and so of course I pull it off quick.

Yeah, I'm more and more convinced the problem is with the starter cable, or less likely the cable going to the fuse block (that other red wire). Something had to be shorted to see this kind of thing happening, not just the starter pulling too much juice.

Oh! I just thought of something. About a week before the kill switch finally "died" (lol) - I remember power being cut to everything while driving when I flicked the high beams during the day to a car in front letting him know he could pull out in front of me. The whole car jerked but came back. This also happened once or twice when rolling up the power windows. Car jerked and bucked like it had no power, then when I let go of the switch, all normal.

So I just remembered something. A few days before the kill switch finally "died" (lol) - I remember that while driving, power was cut to everything when I flicked the high beams for a second to a car in front letting him know he could pull out in front of me. The whole car jerked but came back. This also happened once or twice when rolling up the power windows. Car jerked and bucked like it had no power, then when I let go of the switch, all normal.

That fits my theory that the breaker was already popped, and the battery was out of the circuit. You increased the current draw, and the alternator all by itself couldn't keep up.

Sounds like a loose connection to a power source or high corrosion/resistance on some main power wiring point.
