Previous wheels: Flik Wasp Wheels 17x17 at 19 Lbs.

Current wheels: Konig Heliums 16x7 at 15 lbs. (weighed at a u.s.p.s. electronic scale)

Lighter is better hehehe

15x7 Panasport UL ....... 14 lbs. .......with 205 tire, 30 lbs.

Stock B13 SE-R wheel + 185 tire is 33 lbs.

Pumpkin competition scale.

Do not underestimate wheel stiffness when it comes to lap times!

If you're a drag racer, ignore the following:

A stiffer wheel is much more important than a light wheel. Many manufacturers don't advertise or even test their wheels for stiffness so you're sort of on your own. I might get flamed for this, but personally a wheel like the VOLK TE37 ( http://www.upgrademotoring.com/wheels/te37_white.jpg ) scares the crap out of me because of the spoke design. A wheel like the OZ Superturismo ( http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/oz/swap/oz_supertour_wrc_w_ci3_l.jpg ) has deeper spokes providing (in theory) much better lateral stiffness.

You can't beat the Minilite/Panasport ( http://www.mx5passion.it/allegati/3826_Panasport.jpg ) design for lateral stiffness.

That is my thought as well.... There is no point in getting a lightweight wheel if youre going to put heavy ass tires on it and negate the weight loss.

My 15x7 Enkei RPF1 weigh 9.5 pounds each in the 41 offset. I had Toyo Proxes T1Rs' in a 215/45/15 and each weighed 17.6 pounds.

27.1 pounds per corner with a 215 wide tire is not bad at all.

They are great tires on dry pavement and absolutely amazing in the rain and have good treadwear. I drove on that wheel/tire combo from south florida to Bethlehem, PA to Houston, Tx and back to south florida this past summer. The tread was still good and I ended up selling them to a fellow forum member so I could try out a different tire.

Now they are wrapped in 195/50/15 Toyo R1R's and only used as my autocross wheels. If I daily drove my RPFs' again I would definitely get the T1Rs.

well i just did a bit of searching on tire rack and when you compare selected tires it tells you the weight in the stats and the lightest 205-50-15 that i got was the michelin pilot exalto pe2 at 18 pounds each. Also the General exclaim uhp which are 18 pounds and have a good rating but are only 64 bucks a peice which seems to good to be true

everything so far seems to be 20-22 pounds

what are your guys' driving impressions with light wheels. I found some used trak lites for $600 with tires and I think they are 15x6.5". The tires still have tread on them and I was thinking of picking them up as part of my suspension project. I hear the stock B14 wheels weigh a ton! I have read up to 22lbs. So how much will these wheels help and should I stick with a 15" wheel like stock or should I get a 17" wheel???

the car will feel brand new with the lighter wheels. serious buisness. you will be able to turn the car with one finger, oppossed to a whole hand and arm.

Way back when I was ranting about wheel stiffness I should have mentioned the 949 wheels. They would be my choice for a track wheel now (lighter, stiff and much cheaper than my previous pick). Can't beat the look of the Panasports though. =]
