Calling Engine Harness Gurus - Need Advice! 91 & 94 B13
Hello folks,

I am in the process of swapping my 94 B13 1.6L Auto with my SE-R parts off my 91 B13.....

I sorta forgot the fact that the 94 is much different in the electronics department - airbags, automatic, elec. speedo, 94 style engine harness etc...

My plan was to use the 91 engine harness into the 94 chassis. I was able to find that the under dash plugs are slightly different, along with the need to jump the neutral safety switch in order to start the car. I am good with wiring so neither of these things bothers me much.

I am however more concerned with any other differences with the engine/bay harness'. It appears the alternator wiring is different, with a removable harness on the 94. My 91 alternator wiring appears to be integrated into the engine harness. Has anyone dealt with this? I have FSM's for 94 B13 and the B13/N14 which btw completely sucks. I am not able to find a strictly USDM 91 B13 manual online.

Thanks for the help guys.

Could you use the entire 91 harness possibly?a pia to gut the car to do, but at least you won't run into problems since you can test your wires before reinstalling.

That is my last resort plan. I have found a few people casually mention they have adapted the 91-92 to work in a 94, so I am hoping to make it work.

I'm going to be using a '91 harness with a Roller Rocker (2001) engine, w/low port (95-99) intake manifold, and I'm in the middle of some modifications to make that work. Engine likely won't be getting installed for a few weeks yet, so most of the wiring changes won't happen until then.

What I've been doing is chopping off wiring harness connectors at the junk yard and will then be splicing those into my '91 harness so that I can make use of the newer parts. Just figure out what parts you want to have, and adapt the harness bits you need to make it work.

The trick is to check over the FSM electrical diagrams for the model years involved and make sure that you have the wiring straight. Also if you are chopping connectors make sure you get as much slack as possible so you can make a nice splice and not come up short.

When I swapped my 1.6 manual to 2.0 I searched forever to find a 94 harness and I payed for it too. Apparently the neutral safety switch wasn't an issue in my car as it started up with out it (never really looked into it to much at the time but over the winter I'll have to figure that out if I want to run boost by gear/anti lag) also had to run a wire from the cluster to my tach signal on the engine harness as my car did not have the tach originally. Other than that it worked like a charm. If you can find a 94 harness jump on it immediately.
