driver side window won't roll up.
hi everyone. my driver side window doesn't roll up. it works on and off. i was playing around with the switch and it went down, and it never came back up. Is there a way to hand crank it up? its an 01 sentra w/ power windows btw.

I have regulators and panel switches for sale. Check the oem section. Good luck though!

Try pressing a bit harder on the "up" switch...might help you diagnose anyway. The wife's Xterra is doing this.

If u have a power probe u can send power to the motor to send it back up if the motor is still good, but sounds to me the window motor is going out best bet is to replace the motor or the whole regulator/motor assembly

That happened to me (99 sentra), What I had to do was buy the whole switch panel with the MATCHING PRODUCTION YEAR the previous owner put in i believe a older model & it would roll down but not up. As soon as I replaced it with the right year, it never gave me a problem after.

Point is, more diagnosis is needed. I would measure voltage at the motor & the switch plug and go from there

just an update. i removed two screws holding the glass to the window regulator. i sprayed wd-40 on the rails, and on the steel wires. I tried to push the window upward while pressing the switch; The motor was running , but it wouldn't really budge. Since the window wasn't all the way down, I had to unscrew one of the screws by hand. it took me about 3 hours just to do that, for one little screw. i couldn't get socket on the bolt since there was no room, so i had to use a regular wrench. i had my hand in an awkward position and unscrew it it little by little. I got it fully up and used a zip tie to secure one side of the window in place, so it wouldn't drop down. the other side near the door handle was a little trickier. I had to use a chopstick in order for the window to stay in place. Pretty ghetto, but at least my window isn't taped up anymore.

Yea, that sucks...been there, done that! I've cut slots in a piece of pvc as well as a piece of wood to hold up windows until I could get the necessary parts. Glad you got the window up at least.

Now that the window is out of the way you need to pull the motor/reg assy and see what you need.

Look closely at the corners of the regulator to see if the cable is wedged in some failing plastic pieces.
Separate the motor from the regulator and check it with batt.voltage.

Hope this helps.

I've done the PVC method more than once on various cars to keep the window in position.

If the motor is running as you indicated, then definitely check for anything that would bind the cable. Those rails sometimes just need to be lubricated to get rid of any friction/grit/etc that is causing something to bind.

You might be able to pick up a spare regulator at a local salvage yard, but it's always been kind of hit or miss when I've been looking, and I usually end up picking something up from Rock Auto once I know what the issue is.
