cooling system woes?
Alright so I've been trying to get my cooling system setup properly for the past bit. First off, pump was leaking from seap hole (replaced with spare in garage same thing ordered new one no more seap) check. Couple of line's I.e throttlebody lines leaking turbo coolant line leaking (replaced line to throttle body and copper washer on turbo coolant line stopped leaking) check. Now, my thermostat seems to be stuck open as there doesnt seem to be a difference in heat between the lower and upper rad hose's. I have a nismo thermostat at home, what are your guys opinons on using the nismo t stat? The car is b13 sr20det with gtir turbo and associated parts, not a daily will see some drag and possibly auto x. Weekend warrior! Now my other issue is the fans are not turning on, I've bridged the relay for the rad fans and they do turn on when the relay is bridged so I know the fans work i've also tried a spare relay to see if that was the problem and no change. Now I have researched and my next step is to check the ect sensor. I'm going to pull it from my spare motor test and if it checks out replace as I've heard this will cause the rad fans not to come on and also run the car in open loop? There is know cel showing in the cluster but read it can be stored in the ecu and not show up on cluster. Now I do have nismotronic and wondering if I can read codes with it? Trying to get this sorted so I can have john tune her up. Thanks, dave

yes you can use nismotronic to pull codes, and also test your ect sensor, fans, etc.

Cool, I'll have to look into this. I've been reading through the nismotronic help section's trying to familiarize myself with the program lately. Care to explain how to pull the codes/test sensor's or share a link if I've overlooked it anywhere on the forum or the nismotronic page? Thanks, dave.

you can check your codes by going to

Tools > Check Codes then a pop up window will come up, go ahead and hit update DTC list and your codes will pop up.

as far as testing sensors, you can open up a data screen with Ctrl + D and it will show you all the info you need.

If you are getting codes for sensors you are not using go ahead and uncheck them in Set Up > Extras > DTC Mask

you can read the sensor output. if its giving you an expected value, and you can see it moving up and down, then its probably fine.

Use the functions of nismotronic

Like... Setup a gauge display with everything you want

Hell... Integrate it into the car even, I ran an hp stream 7 with zero issues

I didnt have much time to fiddle with the car last night but I plugged the ecu into the laptop and fired her up. I wasnt getting any data showing up in the data screen so I did abit of research and apparently the consult wires cause interference with it sometimes so I snipped the appropriate wires at the ecu and still no data. Thats as far as I got. Hoping to get somewhere tonight.
