This is regarding a 3 piece UR pulley set (crank, water pump & power steering) & the belts needed.

I still have yet to decide 100% if I will end up deleting the AC on the Chupacabra but when/if I do, I want to know what belt (Gates I know, particularly the correct part #). Yes, I have researched. And this is what it's gotten me...

1 big reason I hate researching some things - there's LOTS of misinformation out there; opinions well they're like assholes, everyone's got one; etc.
And depending on what I am looking into, A LOT of the time the information given is for built cars (track, drag, what-have-you) & I am not building something like that, so most of the time the information doesn't really apply to me (not saying this about this post necessarily but mainly regarding another issue I had when I did some research on engine mounts).

It's easier than you'd think. When I installed underdrive stuff i did this trick;

-I put all the pulleys in place, and wrapped a string around the pulleys
-I then measured the string (31.49",[800mm])
-I then counted how many ribs there were on the original belt (4)
-I then picked up a 4PK800 belt from an autostore.

No research, searching, wondering at all! Just pure measurement. There is no need to overthink this, just measure it!

+1 for string method. I've done that as well. No guessing involved, exact measurement.

Another +1 for string method....to get your working range, take two measurements (w/the pulley all the way loose and all the way tight). For example, if you measure 300mm w/pulley tight and 340mm w/pulley loose, then 320mm is a good number. If that particular belt size can't be found then go with the next smallest size in your range...that way you'll still have plenty of adjustment. So for this example, if you needed a 6 rib belt, you might look for 6pk310 or 6pk320.

...and as Carlos mentioned, 4pk= 4 rib and 6pk= 6 rib. You *can* use a 4rib belt on a 6rib pulley, just not vice-versa. Duh

Or if you search the forum, you will find that we already figured out the belt sizes and posted them up for with ac, ac delete, ps delete, stock pullies, ur pullies, gspec, and ati.

Don't use forum search, use Google to search the forum.

Don't always trust this, at least always double check it with a string. I've blindly followed what the forums have said in the past in regards to belt sizes and it has been wrong.

You should not do this if you're going to run the AC, the belt needs the extra ribs from the strain added to the belt from a running AC Pump. I also run a 6 rib belt on my alternator after removing my AC just because I am OCD and don't like the 4 rib belt on a 6 rib pulley. They are not hard to find, any auto part store should be able to get it for you with the right part number but you almost always have to order it.

Again...you **CAN** do this until you get the right belt, with absolutely no short term issues.

Except the short term issue of it slipping like mad when ever the AC pump kicks on. You **CAN** also drive your car with three wheels but it is not something you'd really want to do.
