So are you getting spark? That's easy enough to check. Do you have GOOD gas in there? Fuel pump fuse?

Good gas, just picked it up Sunday.
Will be rechecking ALL fuses today, believe they were all checked back in April & appeared to be ok but will recheck to be sure.
Also going to check the dizzy today too (highly suspect it), but OMG I seen the prices on dizzy's (looking for local, don't really want to have to wait).
Will be checking a few things today for sure.

Why do u suspect the dizzy?

Cause it came from the Chupa's original rats nest engine mainly.
Though I really hope it's not the culprit as those fuckers are expensive... local vato's cheapest is $134 for a reman.

It is really easy to test. Just spin it by hand with the key ignition ON. Listen if the injectors click. Simple

Did have the gas lines backwards Thanks for the reminder on the @Sentraga. I had read about it before but forgot all about it when it came time to hook them up.


Well IT's alive... somewhat, sorta...


it will after sitting a bit turn over and start & got it going a few times but it was a lumpy mess then died... hard to explain really.
Advanced the timing as much as we could since it seemed retarded but it's still doing the same thing. A lumpy short run then die.
But if you keep trying it won't even do that anymore... just sounds like someone who has some loud walking farts.
Looked in the distributor cap & it did have some nest stuff in it, cleaned it out & inspected... it looks good.
Tried what you suggested Dala, but can't get the distributor to turn by hand
Ignition coil is good.


Does the distributor need to be grounded? Found a couple of metal tabs that something slides on to.

Did have one sparkplug wire wrong from the 1-3-4-2 firing order... but now it's doing less than it was before.
Just turning over with no random start & die now.

Sounds like your not ready imo. You need to read that damn FSM and get ur shizzle in order. THEN get back...

You need to unbolt the distributor from the engine, two 13mm bolts. Then you can turn it :-)

But if you kinda got it started, the dizzy is most likely ok! Keep troubleshooting!

We checked timing and it looked good.
Earlier we found out that it wasn't getting fuel and traced it back to the fuel pump. It had kicked/pushed the line off, so we reattached that. Then made this video.
Shortly after the video it kicked/pushed the fuel pump line off again (& yes it does have a clamp on it) so we'll have to get back into the tank yet again.
The blue fireballs are from the header since the downpipe hasn't been installed yet...
