"Is your car supposed to be...?" is never a good question.
So the wife calls me from Philadelphia yesterday, she took the P10 to the city to avoid putting miles on the Mazda6. The call began... "Is your car supposed to be idling rough and spitting & sputtering?" as she was Westbound on the Schuylkill Expressway. Sure Hon, that's exactly the way I like it to run. I asked if the car was over heating, she said no. I asked if there was smoke pouring out from the rear, again the answer was no. I advised her to just keep going. She made it home and the car is fine.

Soooo, when I cleaned the TB the other day I removed that silly, good-for-nothing baffle and plugged the hole as I have several times before on my other SR20's. Problem being this time I failed to tighten the clamp enough and somewhere in Philly the plug went missing and chaos ensued. Thank goodness it went "out" not "in".

It was fixed in 5 minutes, while I was still in my work clothes.

I don't know that I would have admitted to such a noobified error but meh, I guess it could happen to anyone. Definitely happy for you that it was an 'outie' instead of an 'innie'

i blame the wife for putting on lipstick while holding up traffic. that is 100% the cause of this failure.

My GF won't even drive my VE-T when it's running like it should?

We had someone drive a long way (3+ hours) just so we could help him do a 5th gear swap, among other little things.
In the process, we deleted that resonator, with maybe a pepper shaker? I don't remember.

Halfway home we got a call saying the thing wasn't really running anymore. Shit!
Luckily after looking under the hood he saw the gaping hole and managed to drum up a fix on the side of the road. Lesson learned: use the salt shaker next time.

I used a discarded fuel cap from an old weed-wacker. Wrapped it with a shit ton of electrical tape so that it would fit snug, but alas I failed to tighten the clamp enough. Part of the problem may have been that I didn't insert it far enough and when I tightened the clamp the pressure may have actually been forcing the cap out. Meh whatever, the car is running great now.
