Think You Have a Bad Clutch Cable? One Thing to Check 1st
Not sure if it's been discussed before. B13 binding clutch cable caused by faulty roll pin.

I've noticed for a second time now(2 B13s) that the roll pin on the clutch arm side of the clutch cable had been eaten away after time. I believe in a lot of these "crunchy, binding, gritty clutch" threads, that there pin is the culprit. Link below kinda shows the rollers on the pin that attaches to the clutch arm(left side)

Zero pedal effort compared to the 40+ lbs I used to deal with, feels like it's a hydro now.

You sir are correct. I came to this conclusion years ago. At one point I started drilling out the pin for a small grade 8 bolt n nut.

These pins get eattin away so easily and bam shitty clutch before you know it.

The part that hooks onto the clutch arm has a roller on it. It's pressed in place. This alone can cause major binding issues as it's metal on metal scraping whenever pushing clutch.

All anyone needs to do to check is to loosen the adjustment nut(standing at driver fender with left hand turn counter clockwise) until you can unhook it from the clutch arm. You'll either see a roller or not, or in my case one that was eaten up and seized altogether.

need to ritualistically spray lithium grease or convert to hydro. once i started spraying with grease all the time this never happed to me again, the cable with fray or snap or stretch too far before the pin would go bad

An added modification to that bolt would be to get another brass or aluminum bushing so you dont wear into the arm at all and can replace it as needed

Yes this. in the 1st pic you can see where the roller had been eaten away. And as DxPxe stated you should add a bushing/roller to that bolt

Thank you Bennfenner!

Or a teflon bushing that can be found at your local hardware store...I used one like pictured below to on the striker of my old 240sx to fix the sagging door. Seems like a similar one would be ideal here as well.
