Not able to rev past 6k in neutral or past 5k while driving
Just like the title states, I can only rev up to 6k while in neutral and up to around 5k while driving before it feels like I hit a wall. I have just changed my distributor, cap, rotor, and coil. I also have fresh plugs and oil. I throw no codes, and do not have a CEL. Could this be a clogged cat? I banged the catalytic converter but did not hear any rattles. I drove around with the front O2 sensor disconnected, and that made no different either. I am at 15 degrees as far as timing. Any suggestions guys? I really want to be able to rev to redline again Thanks !

i know this sounds crazy and its gonna sound horrible but remove the 02 sensor from the manifold and see if it makes and difference.

So, I need to remove the O2 sensor that is threaded into my header and try to rev/drive without it being there at all?

i have seen cam timing off cause this, buddy picked up an NX2K from a guy used to track and one day at the track, it bogged out and died, then when the guy refired it wouldnt rev past like 5200 I think. guy parked it for a year, buddy bought it for $400 bucks, checked cam timing, found that due to the chain tensioner going bad the intake cam jumped teeth, retimed and installed new tensioner and ran on that engine for about another 2 years.

Ok, I disconnected the o2 sensor and drove for 2 days that way but it made no difference. I tested my tps using datascan last night. At idle it was getting .46v and at wot with engine off I am getting 4.02v. However, with engine on and at wot I barely get up to 2v.....is that normal?

I am going to say it is possibly your timing but I bet you your spark plugs are gapped to large. I've had this same scenario on my car in the past and I regapped the plugs down from .030 to .020 and everything worked great.

I have them gapped currently to .40 on a stock sr20de engine...I thought that was the norm? If not, I will definitely make the gap smaller and see what happens. I have timing at 15 degrees right now for sure. A new O2 sensor came in today as well, so I will be swapping that out.

Ding ding ding, you have a problem there...

What would cause the TPS to be .45 at idle (normal), 4.02 at WOT with engine off (normal) and only around 2v at WOT when actually driving the car though?
