What's this harness for
Update thanks to @Sentraga - "It's the little chime that warns you when you leave the door open or the lights are on after you shut the car off"

lol. all that worry for nothing.

Changing the gauge cluster lights, I have all 4 of them, but I don't have anywhere for the small one to go, and I don't recall unplugging it when I took everything apart. I plugged in the 3 main large ones and everything in the cluster worked. So I'm sitting in the car for a half hour trying to figure out where it goes, then gave up and came back in and did a search and came up with this:

It's the letter "E" in these photos
(from the old forum):

The issue is, I don't have that black piece for the connector with the screw on the top left?! It's just not there. What's it for? I'm hoping this is similar to the deal with my car coming without A/C but still having the harness for it. I don't want to put everything back together because it's annoying so hoping someone knows what it is.

They should all plug back in to the cluster fairly easy there isn't much to figure out? And removed the steering wheel? I would have lowered the adjuster on the side and get it all the way down and pop the cluster out and went to work. Its been a while since I had a b13 but I say that E gets left unplugged for you.

edit. not sure that the black plug is.

Hope so, everything worked, but just want to be sure before I put everything back. Maybe it's some option I don't have (my car is basically a mule, absolutely nothing but power steering and power mirrors from the factory)

AH! Just thought of something. What if it's for cruise control? (which I don't have either)

That box is useless.
It's the little chime that warns you when you leave the door open or the lights are on after you shut the car off.

It's the first thing I get rid of on my cars.

Seconded. Less annoying if you take it off the board though - I like to still know if the lights are on; taking it off and dangling it seems to be easier on the ears.

I agree. I tried taking mine out, but I'm used to it warning me about the lights, so I kept leaving them on. I tried putting some hot glue in the mute it, which worked for a week or so, then right back to annoying. It is better just dangling though, not on the back of the cluster.

The plastic ones are better sounding than the earlier metal ones. I put one from a B14 in my P10 and it sounds way better.
