SR RWD vs RB RWD in a B13

Considerations would have to be made for (RWD vs FWD),: custom-tubed front ends, firewall modifications, modified fender walls, custom bellhousing, custom length axles, custom driveshaft, customized underbody, engine and transmision mounts, custom rear suspension, possibly custom driveshafts. It would get rediculously expensive and in a hurry! But, apparently it has been done before....with an SR anyway.

Link (Edit: Apparently @White steve fro CT beat me to this link, but I missed it as his text was posted with invisible ink =] )

It might even be easier to do a mid/rear-engine Sentra with an SR engine. I suppose you would have to modify the front suspension to work in the rear of the car and then do a whole bunch of fabrication on top of that...

...If you search the car forums for the various manufacturers, I guarantee that you will find a nut or two in every corner. The nuts are just harder to find in the smaller FWD/SR Nissan community.

Hmmm... This has got me thinking again...

Personally I would NOT put a RB into a B13/B14 let alone a S13/S14. The excessive weight of an RB in the front end would kill it for me. A VQ from a Z car is definitely a more likely/better candidate in my opinion vs. the RB.

Thou a SR RWD has been put into a RHD B13 getting it into a LHD B13 would be a larger challenge I believe. Should you go RB or SR on a LHD B13/B14 you will have issues with getting the exhaust to the back, fuel lines on the wrong side, A/C hoses & lines would have to be one off and a pain as well.

A Mid-Engine RWD SR B13 would be do able, just not fun to work on or service.

...Then again, I do have a B13 in need of an engine currently ... And unfortunately I am one of those SR B13/B14 nuts

Yeah, I was wondering about the LHD vs. RHD issue when I saw that the B13 was RHD in the pictures from the link. You are probably right that it would mean more/different fab work to get this done in a LHD B13 sentra. Thankfully for me I don't have to consider them, as I have no dreams or aspirations of such foolishness.

As far as the mid-engine RWD B13, it would definitely be cool to see. One big problem I see (vs a GSR) is that the B13 is a trunk back vehicle vs. the long hatchback of the GSR that Dave Dunn modified. The again, when we're talking cut and paste, anything is possible I suppose. Like you said, would probably a pain in the butt to work on.

Well, get to work on that mid-engine Sentra then!

Yea like @LAM-PARK said that's another point the whole LHD vs RHD. It's something to think about if anyone ever attempts to re do another build like this RWD B13. @B15NEOVVL you can maybe just use a NX to try doing that mid-engine it is a hatch. I like were the thread is starting to go now. I'm going to compare the differences between RB's and SR's to see of each one which can be a better candidate to put in. Referring to engine size etc. and what would be the most effective way to tackle a build like either a midengine NX or a RWD B13/B14. Thanks @B15NEOVVL for the interest. and thanks @LAM-PARK for the info.

Doing a mid-engine NX would be easier to work on, however you would still need to build a rear firewall setup like a Pantera, Ferrari F40 or other Mid-Engine vehicle.
