Today I removed the alternator belt and ran the car. Whine is still present.

I do have a lightweight flywheel 9.5 lbs. I had it resurfaced when I installed the sr16 tranny last week. Does anybody think the flywheel could be the culprit? Its the only rotating part left. lol.

Re: Whining I'm Baffled
Everything on mine is polybushed and hard mounted.

I've had a jwt flywheel in and swapped back to stock made no difference.

Maybe it's the poly bushes. Like I said before, I swapped trannies last week to a sr16 from a stock de tranny, I used the same flywheel that was in the de a 9.5 pounder, new clutch, new pressure plate, new throwout bearing. THE SAME WHINE EXISTS! I think it's the nature of the beast with poly bushings.

If you have the original tensioner from the motor, then it's not upgraded. It would be 16 years old tensioner.

Aside from the unknown whine, how do you like the SR16 tranny? Getting ready to swap mine in.

Re: Whining I'm Baffled
I've put a brand new tensioner on mine. No change. Swapped about clutchs and flywheels. No change. PS pump. No change. Alternator. No change. Belts. No change.

I'm noticing no ill affects the the car, oil pressure is strong, pulls well burns no oil or uses water... Just driving the car.

If we lived by that mantra there would be no forum.
