50 series gearbox over 32 series
Hello folks,

I had a question about tranny, Currently I do have a non lsd tranny install on my gtir swap on b13..

When i check it the flywheel seems a lot bigger and the clutch disk has 24 splines and around 9.5" / 240 diameter.

while my other tranny from DE which i believe it's 32 series gear box since it has 18 spline around 8.5"/215 diameter clutch disc.

I was wonder if which one is much better? in terms of acceleration? like for drag?

I know LSD is way much better but since I can't find yet. So i'm planning to swap out the tranny ofcourse I do have different axles on both.

Hope you can share

The 240mm clutch will be able to hold more power/torque as has more surface area to use to hold the power.

in terms of Drag Racing - when you compare stock 32 series vs. 50 series the 50 series will be have a heavier flywheel and clutch due to a greater size - also it will have larger rotational mass which can help & hurt you. That would depend on the size of your turbo setup.

The 50 series came in the JDM bluebird FWD SR20. It's the same box as the Altima, Maxima and Stanza with the difference of the bell housing. It's also the same as the GTI-R without the AWD bell housing.

Just like how the spec v and the P12 are the same internally but different bell housings.

@kevwal, yes i agree.. in the phils we have the local altima which has 24 splines. as for mine i have 2 bracket support for the tranny. more similar to bell housing of gtir but no lsd... problem is it feels like a bit slow on starting, it might be due to the heavier flywheel... if ever i get a lighten flywheel not even sure if it can handle the pressure, because if the diameter.
