Guess what ruined my entire night and a dozen other people?
THIS:

Instead of opening for "The Band's" Levon Helm's daughter Amy tonight, I sat in a parking lot and waiting for a tow truck for three hours, 32 miles from home. It was fine, then just snapped randomly. I had a spare in the trunk but had no lighting to attach it to the clutch pedal. It's almost impossible to attach it to the pedal without light. So after an hour I gave up.

Word to the wise, keep a flashlight in your car. These clutch cables are complete pieces of shit. Maybe I should switch to hydraulic. Oh and BTW this was in my '92 SE-R

This^^

Are you using OEM nissan cables? I have never broken a Nissan cable, the aftermarket crap is garbage. You can drive the car anyway, I have done it hundreds of miles in different sr20 cars. Just learn to synchro shift. Get the car rolling slowly and slip it into first gear, then hope you don't have to stop. If you do have to stop, just turn on the hazards and get it rolling again.

a tranny saver bracket will keep the cable from breaking. also use a oem nissan cable. I have broken 1 clutch cable in my 15 years of driving se-r's.

Regular lubrication is a good idea too. I use Cable Life.

Aww man, one thing after another. At least you made it home, and yes, a flashlight is a "must have". I've got one in each car 'cause you never know.

I know it's not rocket science, but it was pitch black in the middle of no where next to a corn field in Sussex county, NJ. I'm still having trouble attaching it to the pedal now by myself in daylight. Oh well at least I didn't have to pay for gas on the way home
