SR20VE average HP?
Hi all -- I've tried searching (maybe I'm bad at it) but can't find many answers.

I know every engine is different but I need to give an estimate of wheel horsepower for my car to my sanctioning racing body. I can go to a dyno but for the 1 event I'll be running it isn't worth the hassle. If I "over estimate" the horsepower I am at a disadvantage but no big deal, if I under estimate and win then I'll be penalized. So I'd like to be conservative but need an educated guess.

I have a bone stock SR20VE engine, I have that little computer that enables the high cam earlier (it's set for like 4k.. probably should make it higher). Only thing on the engine that would be "different" is a custom header and a straight exhaust (no cat, 2.5" pipe straight back).

I'm guessing 160-170whp but I'm really not sure.

Any better educated guesses?

160-170whp sounds about right for a fairly stock VE that was dropped in without too many additional mods.

You could always do a virtual dyno and get a fairly close number to the real thing.

Oh I've got one of those Gtech's that may work, just gotta find a place to do a few 0-60 pulls, having no speedo may be an issue lol

I dynoed my VE a while back with basic mods, (I/H/E) running the stock DE ECU, DE MAF, VE injectors and put down 162whp.

Thanks! So if I tell them it's 170whp I'm probably very safe to not get penalized when I win

Its amazing how much difference the ECU (and the tune therein) will make even on a stock setup. I'd say 160-170 should be about right on average.
