If you want fuel economy buy a Micra 1.5dci. or the Renault Clio or Megane with the same engine. 4.5 Litres per 100km.

I drive SR20 for performance. If I was logical about transport I'd use the bus :-)

Here's an equation for you to figure out how long it will take for the swap to break even:

Variables:
MG = mpg gasoline
MD = mpg diesel
G$ = $/gallon gasoline
D$ = $/gallon diesel
MY = Miles driven per year
S$ = Cost of swap
PY = payoff in years

PY = S$ / ((MY/MG*G$) - (MY/MD*D$))

I have no idea how much the swap would cost - engine, trans, axles, ecu, custom mounts, etc.,
but using hypothetical figures of 30mpg, 50mpg, $4.50/gal diesel, 12000 miles/yr
(25 mile/day commute + 125 miles per weekend), $2000 swap cost:
4.13 years (regular @ 3.91)
3.29 years (premium @ 4.22)

I still want to buy a 2007 Mexican B13 GA16DE and throw in a VE or go diesel. Having a new car with a spanking good motor wouldnt be that bad.

What are the Torque and HP numbers on that CD20T?

Around 90hp and 131lb/ft..

Better get a YD22DDTi engine, also comes in the Primera and has 140hp and 230lbs of torque..

You can get RWD versions of this one here in Mexico.

You can get here in Mexico this engine, it comes in the D22 hardbody, and also availble in the Urvan, the ZD30DDti, 3.0 turbo intercooler.

Just go electric. Everyone just bolt on the Tesla powertrain and laugh as you are charged $4 to charge up and drive for 200 miles. lol.
