2000 g20t shuts off when idling
I just picked up a 2000 g20t with 119k miles and it has a idle problem. When at a stop it dies 50% of the time and if it sits for more than 20 seconds idling it will die. Im guessing a dirty iacv? What are some things to look at? That and MAF.. thanks!

It's always the MAF or IACV, I'm glad you caught on to that . You cant clean the Roller Rocker IACV, you have to replace it pretty much. It's a motor that opens a plunger, that motor dies or gets dirty and stuck. Replacing it is not cheap ($100 very least), and once you replace it you have to do a rain dance to reteach the ECU the new IACV.

I have 2-3 of the IACV's laying around, I think they are all bad though, otherwise I would have sold them to you cheap since I don't need them anymore (OBD1 conversion FTW and second P11 was replaced by a better AWD car ha).

Could be a vac leak somewhere. Start pinching lines that go into the intake mani. I found a big one in line that goes to the evap system when I had idle issues.

Tried cleaning the MAF, IAC and throttle body but it didn't solve it... It helped it a lot though to where now it doesn't just die... It only happens when its warm is the problem.. Idle is perfect until it warms up then it keeps dropping down to about 550-600 then shoots back up to 800

I seafoamed it and it helped the fluctuating idle 100% however it just randomly shuts off still... It will idle perfectly at 800 then out of no where it just stalls out. Also when I give it gas to about 1750 rpms it will fluctuate up and down 250 rpms constantly(1750-1500 back and forth about 2, 3 times a second)

very interesting, im having similar issues and have replaced a few things, but i still have the problem so i am also curious as to whats causing it. I have a brand new IACV and it still does and no vaccum leaks.

I have my OEM MAF coming in friday.. I heard that could be the cause so we will see.. I also have a new IACV I might return if the MAF fixes it lol I will let you know if i fix it

Do you have a consult cable? If so, check to see what temp the engine coolant temp sensor is telling the ecu.
