Because with the spacers, the clutch pedal is much higher than the brake, and once you remove them, all of the pieces fit without having to drill new holes in the pedal rod.

Not true at all my spacers are still on the firewall and the clutch pedal is barely higher than the brake pedal I'm talking millimeters here you can hardly notice it.
Too bad I missed this yesterday. Time/Warner internet was down in my area from noon yesterday until this morning . I could have sent you a longer clevis from the junk yard.
Let me know if this pedal modification doesn't work quite right and I'll pull another clevis next time I'm at the yard. The 90's Maxima, Altima and even the late 80"s Pulsar, I've seen, all seem to have the longer clevis.
