Thread: Strange Headlight issue - High-beam indicator constantly on?

Hey gang,

Just removed the HID kit from the Sentra - the lights would never go to high-beam. I bought some brand new silverstar white halogen bulbs, slapped 'em in there. Now I have a constant high-beam indicator on the dash whenever the headlights are activated. The lights, in the normal settings, don't appear to be on high-beam. When I activate high-beams by pushing the column switch forward, they seem to not be as bright? What gives? Bad column switch? Relay somewhere?

Had this problem when I did my 94 to 91 front end swap, turned out I wired to two power wires backwards. Swapped them the right way and problem solved.

I think you said those HIDs are 9004 correct? I believe the 98/99 B14s were changed to use 9007 bulbs. I would try to swap those 9004 ones for a set of 9007 and see if that solves your issue.

I know before I swapped the 2 wires on my 96 (which is 9004) to use 9007 bulbs, i got some kinda of similar issue. So i would assume the opposite would be true (trying to use 9004 bulbs on 9007).

Yeah, I've got friggin' 9004 Silverstars in there now. The headlight harness itself is unmolested, so I doubt there's a wiring issue? I didn't know the 99 B14's call for 9007. I will go get some today and see what happens.

Wrong headlights...durrr......I thought they took 9004 like my 200SX used to. Turns out they are 9007.

Same issue in my 97 SE-R, whnen i switched from 9004 to 9007, also, the OEM foglights stay on with the brights too.

Jordan I thought I got you fixed up as well? If harness is 9004 and you wanna use 9007 I believe you just cut and swap the ground and low beam wires and it should work fine
