Thread: Sandblast Valve Cover

Sandblasted my valve cover. Wanted to know how those of you who've sandblasted their valve cleaned the sand out from the baffle inside the cover. I ended up soakingit in purple power for a couple hours and used brake cleaner and engine degreaser to clean it out. Not sure what else I can do want to make sure its clean before its back on the car.

Good luck, most people take the baffle out when sandblasting so this does not happen. You could try flushing it out with a hose for a while but you might not get it all you. Maybe let it dry over night or give it a quick bake in the oven and then blow it out with some compressed air. You could always have it sonic cleaned at a machine shop.

How can I remove the baffle? Seems like a hassle to remove and put back on, would rather have it sonic cleaned if I can find someone local. If not ill have to remove the baffle.

Baffle is easy to remove, and pretty easy to put back on. You have to drill out the rivets, then peal the silicone off. To put it back on, just re-silicone it back in place. I would try blowing it out then having it cleaned first.

From what I can feel it seems like its all out but I can only reach so far don't want to risk it. Ill try doing everything over gain after I bake it and use a compressor to blow it all out.

remove the baffle and clean it properly. better safe than sorry.

Wash it in a big sink over and over and over and over and over. And over. Fill with water, drain, fill with water, drain and repeat like 100x

Removed the baffle today and cleaned it all out. Anyone know a place in ct that does powdercoating thats reasonably priced. Places Ive called want 125+ for a cover thats already sanblasted and prepped. Might paint or polish it myself if thats the case.

If you can hold off for a bit I could probabaly do it cheaper. My brother is finishing his oven to powder coat parts with. not sure what he's wanting to charge, but i might orcastrate a group buy of sorts to get a deal going for the forum. Its in my garage so i have some say in what i do lmao

i celaned mine like 15 times even used a pressure washer.

i removed the baffles & there was STILL sand in the small crevisis.
