VERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY interesting. Did you possibly make up some sort of a write up about doing this.. or at least catalogue it at all... have not heard of this method..

The first time I did it I didn't take pictures or anything, I have 2 more transmissions with 5th gear popout one actually has a broken fork too. When I end up doing those ill be sure to make a write up, that write up should also aide anyone who wants to install the kit from greg as well since I'm pretty sure its the same process minus flipping the gear.

From the Manifesto: http://www.sr20-forum.com/general-maintenance/18390-how-recognise-repair-5th-gear-pop-out-b13-b14-transmission.html

I like to do the job myself and have done maybe a dozen of these by now. I only spend around $125 - $200 in parts depending on how poor/desperate the owner is. The only 100% required part for a lasting fix is the 5th gear itself.

Simply flipping the coupling sleeve without buying a new gear will get you maybe another thousand miles or so on the 5th gear and is not worth all the effort. While you're in there, the least you can do is replace the gear too.

I got lucky, I've had 4 or 5 different B13's and the current VE swapped B13 is the only one I've had the problem. But all fixed now

I could only stand driving it short distances because the exhaust is loud, and your stuck in 4th gear.. ugh
