Injectors, fuel pump idk?? Wont start idk.
So I found out that my fuel rail was leaking the other day on my Ve. Apparently I missed that a shit load of jb weld or quick steel was caked on underneath the rail. Just happened I saw the leak one day when the hood was popped. It must have just started leaking recently because the car has been driven with no issues just about everywhere and long trips. I get another known good fuel rail, swap the injectors over, and it runs like shit. Pulled the rail and cranked it with rail off, found one injector that was staying open, spitting fuel like a faucet. So I disconnected everything, pulled injectors and rail, cleaned them up and reinstalled. Checked for any injector staying open when cranking and they sprayed fine. I then bolted everything back in and the car still runs like crap, and is almost impossible to start, just cranks and cranks. I even put new plugs because the others looked saturated in fuel. So again I thought I was having a fuel issue.
I pulled the fuse for the fuel pump to get the pressure out to disconnect everything and the car stays on and revs smoothly with out the fuel pump fuse in?? It just wont drive, but it does idle and stay on fine. Put the fuse back in and the car will not start. When it does it runs very rough. Throw a dead battery in between all this and I am pretty frustrated. Car sat for a week because I have no time to mess with it during the week, so not getting it to run today was aggravating. Any ideas?

Is it possible you installed the fuel lines on the rail backwards?

Are you absolutely sure there are no leaking o-rings? How old are the o-rings?

Is your return fuel line clear? Did you remember to connect the FPR vacuum hose? Maybe try swapping FPRs (and the damper?). Do you have a fuel pressure gauge to test with?

I believe they are correct. The line coming from the fuel filter is connected to the line opposite the fpr on the fuel rail.I've checked a few times over for pinched o-rings or otherwise, will check again. The o-rings were replaced when I got the motor(maybe like 4 months).Return fuel line is clear. The fpr vacuum hoses are connected. I will try swapping fpr and no i don't have a fuel pressure guage to test with. :-/ Will try again in the morning

The "stuck" injector must have something to do with this, you'd think... That's not right, ever.

True. I assumed it was a pinched o-ring because when I removed and reinstalled injectors, it was no longer spraying like before.

Yah, a lower o-ring leak is a distinctly different failure mode than a stuck injector. I guess we think it was an o-ring leak then?

Yes, but I assumed it was taken care of, when I watched the injectors fire with the rail off the motor. They seemed fine, but I guess not.

try a different ecu maybe?or an extra set of ve inj/rail and hope for the best .you have corresponding parts to your management? is this a walbro pump?is that
new vac hose from fpr to mani?if you pulled the fuse to your pump,it wouldnt work.for it to idle smoothly, without power to the pump means system has enough pressure in line to start up and remain until pressure drops .good luck.
