so was the issue the vac leak or the maf?

Unless I misunderstood, he touched the MAF wire/connector/whatever and trimmed down that rubber tube, two changes led to one result, so who really knows?

it was probably due to the vac leak, what happens is your engine leans out and eventually stalls.. having a wideband would of told the story.
