Recommended oem cold cranking amps? Car only starts when jumped...
So I have a brand new battery in my car (93 NX2000) that I purchased from a local shop, it is rated for 450 cca's and Im wondering what factory specs are?

Ive done some searching and seen quite a wide range of cold cranking amp ratings, obviously the higher the rating the more likely it can start in the artic.

I live in missouri and its currently pretty damn cold, down in the 20-30 degree range. My car didn't have any troubles until it got cold out or atleast thats the most related thing I can link it to.

I also recently replaced my belts and pulleys with Unorthodox Racing crank+water pump.

Alternator (running at 14v) and battery both tested good when car was running and hooked up to a o'reilly tester.

let me know what you guys think because jump starting your car sucks in the morning when its colder than polar bear tits outside.

Not sure what the factory recommends, but I start mine with a lawn tractor battery in it down to about 20 degrees.I would think 450 would do it.Any amps, cell phone chargers, etc. connected?

no my head unit doesn't even work so no stereo, another problem I need to figure out eventually.

Nothing is plugged into the cig lighter currently either, had a mini rechargable flash light plugged in for a while but unplugged it just in case it was causing the issue.

Mate its prob the starter motor brushes worn, get a fresh one or rebuild done. Also check earths to engine block etc.

Have the battery you have tested. If it passes rip the starter out. I had my car go almost a year where it would barely start on a 900CCA optima battery. Battery had a dead cell. Replaced battery, still would barely start. Replaced starter, now it starts like a champ. I live in northeast ohio, it gets very cold here also so I always get batteries rated higher than OEM batteries which im pretty sure are between 450-600CCA. Duralast golds are 950CCA and about 120 dollars. Worth every cent, 7 year warranty.

My '93 SE-R started doing the same thing a couple winters ago.
After cleaning the battery terminals and connectors, it started fine.
Check your battery & starter & alternator connections, including grounds.
Clean them up good, and put dielectric grease on the battery connections.

I bought a used Hawker G13EP, 190 CCA, and had it in my SE-R for many years,
in cold WI winters. Started below 0 F, but turned over very slowly under about
10 F, but still started.
