Just put a new alternator in my car, when I rev past 6k brake and battery light comes on, is it bad? Or could it possibly be something else...

Make sure the belt is properly tightened.

Think its too loose? Or too tight, I can turn it perhaps 1/4 of the way over

You should have about a half inch of deflection in the belt. Also make sure that you tightened all the part of the adjuster that goes through the bracket or else the belt will keep loosening up.

Alternator could be defective or the wires in the plug could be corroded like mine where. Had to make a new harness and never had a problem again.

If it happens over 6k your belt is more than likely loose. Also check your pulley to make sure the pulley isnt falling apart. That drive part of the pulley sits a rubber piece that alot of times deteriorates and falls apart. So it might not be spinning fully.

If it was the alternator its likely it would have the battery light on at low revs, not high.

put a digital multimeter on it and rev it up by hand from the TB. if voltage goes past 15v the the voltage regulator is done. if left on the car you may blow out some lights and burn up other electrical components, and eventually the alternator will fail completely.

Loose belt or bad grounds.
