Window Help!
Car: 1998 Sentra GXE
Problem area: Front passenger side window

Here is what is going on.. The other day, my little lady went to roll down her window while she was driving and after it got about a quarter of the way down, it just fell and wouldnt go back up. She took the door panel off and tried to fix it (so proud of her ) but she couldnt figure it out, so i went by and had taken a look at it. My dilema.. I found out that our windows are cable driven and lifted from the middle. There is a small metal square that I think locks into the bottom of the window but im not sure. The bottom of the window where it is mounted to the track moves back and forth possibly a quarter of an inch. If you pull the window towards the track and hold it there, it will go up and down, as long as there is pressure. If you let it go, it falls. It can be rolled up all the way and will stay up if you hold it until it stops all the way closed since there is pressure on it.

Does anyone know if the bottom mount which looks like its held on by 2 bolts could just be replaced, or is it more complicated than that???

Thanks guy..
Greg

I just bought one from RockAuto for about $65 for my 200SX. However, it did not fit because the cables were too short. It would probably work fine for a 4 door with the shorter door. Everything in there is so attached with rivets, etc. that it is just easier to replace the whole thing. I finally ended up bying just the motor from Autozone. That is all that I needed. Make sure that you put grease on the channel when you put it back together.
