Wires dont normally just short for no reason. Was anything done to the car recently prior to this happening. If so you might want to go back through that area that was messed with and check things over.

Biggest thing i can think of is check the wheel well on the driver side and see if you have anything wearing into the chassis harness that runs over the top of the tire in the wheel well to the cab. All the power wires and some grounds for those accesories come from there.

Oh man, I remember going thru ALL of this crap a couple of months ago. The CD player I bought with the car randomly died. So did the dome light. I didn't make the connection between the two. So I got a new dome light bulb from Nissan (like $2.50) and a brand new cd player, thinking the old one had just blown and the dome light was a coincidence.

Installed it. No power. No dome light. Nothing. So I ended up taking the car to my friend who went to school for stereo installation. He actually re-installed the old CD player but in the process a fuse popped in the interior fuse section by the steering wheel. I wish I could remember which one it was, but he replaced it and suddenly the CD player and the dome light worked. So bizarre, the wiring in these older cars.
