Failed CarbonMonoxide Emmisions Test
It is that time again where registration is becoming time to renew and emissions testing.
I have a 93 B13 SE-R, stock with ebay header and cone filter on oem rubber piping. OEM ecu and everything. I passed the hydrocarbons test by replacing spark plugs, cap and rotor. plug wires are about a year old OEM that are still in great condition. I have also plugged the EGR to disable it after I installed the header. I have passed emissions without the EGR before with the header installed. When I pulled the plugs they were a nice brownish tan with no oil and no burn marks which I was very happy to see.
From what i've read high CO reading usually is because of a rich fuel mixture. My question is how to lean out a stock motor that does not have an adjustable FPR or modded ECU?
This might be a very dumb question but on the intake tube there is that large 1" hole that you cap after removing the stock airbox, stock header and block the EGR. Would opening this up slightly pull more air since its after the MAF and cause a lean situation for testing?
Thanks for your help guys.
