It does not matter what motor you buy. What you need to match up is the sensors and harness to the ECU. So in your case make sure you get the USDM SR20DE sensors to put in what ever motor you get. Not sure if the RR motors are tuned differently than the others but i am guessing you should be fine.

just like everyone already said.. You need to make sure you use usdm sensors that are all 96 or newer. The red top engine looks like a euro sr20de which is a 10:1 compression and the other one is a roller rocker which will be 9.5:1 compression. So if you ever decide to go turbo this is something you might want to consider. At the end of the day you can get both of them to work

Make sure your dizzy has two plugs for your 96 harness.need usdm intake manifold 95-99 to retain egr. If you get this used complete soak the egr in brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner for a while and clean with pipeople brush and shots of air.replace all vacuum lines buy an ebay header with egr port.roller rocker from what I heard is a good replacement.especially with b14 manifold.make sure to use a 95-97 ecu b14 or g20.Whatever year ecu same yea coolant temp sensor.new knock sensor same year maf
