I went to good ol harbor freight and picked me up a set of punches...
Took the 3/16 and it wouldn't fit staight in due to the bar that goes inbetween there... So I take my hammer and bend it as so

Couple of hard hits and the thing goes flying out!

The driver side axle can be a real pita, i've had them come out easy, and had some difficult ones.. but I always prevail! I either use a pickle fork or pry bar and some wiggling an jiggling. Next time ya need one out ben hit me up!

an to the op of this thread, holy shit dude you scratched that case up something bad oh and the ring that goes around the axle seal too...

Wish I would have seen this earlier, because it would have saved you allot of time and sweat. All you need to do is wrap a rope or chain around the axle in the space between that cup and the trans, then sit on your ass with your legs parallel to the axle, give the chain a quick sharp tug, and the axle will pop right out.

lmao this was going to be the next step because I'm at my brothers house so I don't have access to much... I just have my chain holding up the old engine
I'm almost ready to put everything back into the car! just need to swap the header over, put the tranny on and drop the bitch in
